Purchasing & Procurement – QQI Level 6

Course Overview

The Purchasing and Procurement QQI level 6 Certificate course is a great foundation that will give the student a strong knowledge base, skills, and competence to effectively manage the procurement function of any large or small organisation. The course is designed for a broad spectrum of people in business together with potential students who have no background in the sector.

Working in Procurement involves sourcing reliable suppliers and maintaining continuity of supply at a competitive price. You will be able to distinguish between the procurement and purchasing functions and the logistics aspects of different types of public and private sector organisations.

The student will learn how to rank procurement items, how to implement tactical and strategic sourcing, and can apply relevant criteria for the assessment of suppliers. Effective negotiation through all stages of procurement together with key components of a contract including the rationale for termination of agreements.

Further professional education progression is easy through professional bodies (CIPS, APICS, etc.,) or by undertaking the QQI full award at level 6 in Purchasing, Supply Chain & Logistics 6M2192.
