The QQI Level 6 Major Award is open to candidates who wish to further their knowledge in the areas of purchasing, supply chain, and logistics.
The course is designed for participants who currently work in the industry but do not have the necessary academic achievements to progress their careers. The course is also accessible for students who may not have a background in any of these industries.
Lecturers are Industry Professionals who give real-life case studies and examples during class as well as the academic knowledge to underpin the learning experience.
On successful completion of the programme, you will have the skills and qualifications you need to work in the Purchasing, Logistics and Supply Chain Sector or you can also progress to further education and training.
Successful learners will receive a QQI Level 6 Major Award in Purchasing, Supply Chain Logistics.

A minimum Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate standard of education or equivalent education or experience. An applicant whose first language is not English or who has not been educated wholly or mainly in the medium of English will be expected to reach, before commencing a programme, a suitable minimum level of competence in English in order to participate fully in the Programme. Learners are required to demonstrate an English proficiency level equivalent to International English Language Testing Score (IELTS 5.5) and/or other recognised equivalent international English language test. Learners will be required to submit evidence of their English proficiency.
All modules are assessed through continuous assessment.
Learners are required to complete 160 hours of practical work experience in the areas of purchasing, supply chain and logistics.
If students are currently employed in this sector, then those hours can be completed with their organisation within the duration of the course. Previous work experience will not be counted towards this module.

This component enables learners to develop work skills, evaluate employment opportunities and cope with changing work environments.
Warehousing & Inventory Management(6N2187)Delivered: OnlineThe purpose of this programme is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to carry out warehouse design, inventory and management operations independently or in a supervisory capacity.
Transport & Distribution(6N2185)Delivered: OnlineThe purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to manage, independently or in a supervisory capacity, the import, export, transportation and distribution of freight and materials used in manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing. The overall aim of this component is to show how transportation and distribution strategies link with the creation of value in the organization for the benefit of the customer. We introduce a variety of techniques that can be used to probe the cost and performance implications of different logistics strategies and its integration with the rest of the organization.
Supply Chain Environmental Management(6N2182)Delivered: OnlineThe aim of this component is to provide the learner with the knowledge, skills and competency to perform, independently or in a supervisory capacity, the management functions of strategic planning, decision making and waste management within a supply chain or the organization function. The objective of the component is to promote an understanding of the contribution of the integrated supply chain to the achievement of overall business organisation effectiveness and competitive advantage.
Purchasing & Procurement(6N2183)Delivered: OnlineThe aim of the Purchasing and Procurement component will introduce the learner to the principles of modern Procurement techniques. The learner will develop the knowledge, skill and competence required to apply the concepts of Purchasing and Procurement in a modern business environment and to analyse procurement and purchasing procedures and applications. The study of Purchasing can be approached from several perspectives. Such perspectives include those functions, process, link in the supply or value chain, relationship, discipline of the profession. This component will explore these to provide a good overview of Purchasing and Procurement.
Production Planning & control(6N2184)Delivered: OnlineThe Production Planning and Control module will equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to enable the student to carry out the functions of production planning and control either in an independent capacity or under supervision in a production environment.
Communications(6N1950)Delivered: OnlineThe aim of this component is to provide the learner with the knowledge, skills, and competencies to communicate effectively (e.g. information gathering, communication process, non-verbal, aural/oral, reading/writing, interactive) in the work place and to show an understanding of current issues in communications/information technology and to enhance/refine interactive skills and qualities. In addition, learners will develop an awareness of the essential role played by communication in human interaction and acquire communication skills relevant to working and personal development.
Business & Financial Management(6N2180)Delivered: OnlineThe Business and Finance Management module will introduce the learner to the principles of modern business and financial management. The learner will develop the knowledge, skill and competence required to apply the concepts of business management and finance in a modern business environment.
