Course Overview
Looking to jump-start your career as a Nurse? Our Nursing Studies course is designed as a programme of preparatory study for learners to study a degree course in Nursing.
Our Nursing Studies course aims to provide a progression route to a nursing degree programme. Learners who achieve the major award may apply through the CAO for degrees in General Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Intellectual Disability Nursing, and Children’s Nursing. The programme also aims to provide learners with all the skills necessary to work as healthcare assistants in hospitals, nursing homes, daycare centres, and in-home care.
Our course will give an introduction to the caring role of the nurse and the importance of interpersonal communication. Students will develop the competence to be able to provide care for patients in a safe and hygienic environment. Students will find that the modules of this course are highly relevant and practical. The course aims to provide learners with the necessary skills and knowledge required for the workplace or further education.
Upon successfully completing the course, graduates may be able to work in a variety of nursing and healthcare settings. This can be in hospitals, nursing homes, residential centres, and daycare centres.
Furthermore, a significant number of our graduates progress to degrees in Nursing and Midwifery in Irish universities, including TCD, DCU and UCD.
Achievement of this award will enable the learner to progress to other appropriate programmes leading to awards at the next or higher levels of the National Framework of Qualifications.
